| 3 | s. 1006.06, F.S.; requiring district school board plans to  | 
| 4 | eliminate the sale or use of products containing high- | 
| 5 | fructose corn syrup from school food service programs and  | 
| 6 | on school grounds; requiring Department of Education  | 
| 7 | approval of plans, monitoring of plan implementation, and  | 
| 8 | reporting; providing an effective date. |

| 10 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | 
| 11 | 
  | 
| 12 |      Section 1.  Subsection (6) is added to section 1006.06,  | 
| 13 | Florida Statutes, to read: | 
| 14 |      1006.06  School food service programs.-- | 
| 15 |      (6)  By January 1, 2007, each district school board shall  | 
| 16 | submit to the department a plan to eliminate the sale or use of  | 
| 17 | products containing high-fructose corn syrup from school food  | 
| 18 | service programs and on school grounds. The plan must contain a  | 
| 19 | schedule to accomplish the elimination of products containing  | 
| 20 | high-fructose corn syrup by July 1, 2007, and must be approved  | 
| 21 | by the department. The department shall monitor the  | 
| 22 | implementation of each district school board's plan and provide  | 
| 23 | a report on such implementation to the President of the Senate  | 
| 24 | and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by January 1,  | 
| 25 | 2008, and annually thereafter. | 
| 26 |      Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
