A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to school food service programs; amending
3s. 1006.06, F.S.; requiring district school board plans to
4eliminate the sale or use of products containing high-
5fructose corn syrup from school food service programs and
6on school grounds; requiring Department of Education
7approval of plans, monitoring of plan implementation, and
8reporting; providing an effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12     Section 1.  Subsection (6) is added to section 1006.06,
13Florida Statutes, to read:
14     1006.06  School food service programs.--
15     (6)  By January 1, 2007, each district school board shall
16submit to the department a plan to eliminate the sale or use of
17products containing high-fructose corn syrup from school food
18service programs and on school grounds. The plan must contain a
19schedule to accomplish the elimination of products containing
20high-fructose corn syrup by July 1, 2007, and must be approved
21by the department. The department shall monitor the
22implementation of each district school board's plan and provide
23a report on such implementation to the President of the Senate
24and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by January 1,
252008, and annually thereafter.
26     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
