  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing and commending Laurie

  3         Nimmons.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, Laurie Nimmons, a teaching professional at

  6  Admiral Lehigh Golf Resort in Lehigh Acres, exemplifies the

  7  virtues of physical fitness and a competitive spirit, having

  8  persisted with her passion for playing and teaching golf after

  9  receiving two artificial knees, two artificial hips, two

10  artificial shoulders, and one life-saving donor kidney, and

11         WHEREAS, Laurie demonstrated her championship quality

12  competing against 1,500 competitors from around the world to

13  win a Gold Medal in Golf in the XV Summer World Transplant

14  Games in London, Ontario, Canada, and

15         WHEREAS, the Transplant Games, a competition for

16  organ-transplant recipients, serves the dual role of providing

17  Olympic-style competition for organ-transplant recipients

18  while also raising awareness of the need for organ donation,

19  and

20         WHEREAS, Laurie's competitive spirit and achievements

21  bring great honor to the residents of Lehigh Acres and the

22  State of Florida, NOW, THEREFORE,

23  

24  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

25  

26         That the Florida Senate recognizes and commends Laurie

27  Nimmons for her extraordinary competitive achievements in

28  winning a Gold Medal in Golf at the XV Summer World Transplant

29  Games, showing that physical challenges cannot impede a

30  person's desire to achieve his or her goals and demonstrating

31  the great need for and importance of organ donation.

 1         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

 2  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Laurie
