12 recommended the following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with directory and title amendments)
15 On page 7, between lines 24 and 25,
16
17 insert:
18 (3) In addition to the powers, duties, and
19 responsibilities authorized by this or any other chapter, the
20 Division of Consumer Services shall serve as the state's a
21 clearinghouse for matters relating to consumer protection,
22 consumer information, and consumer services generally. It
23 shall receive complaints and grievances from consumers and
24 promptly transmit them to that agency most directly concerned
25 in order that the complaint or grievance may be expeditiously
26 handled in the best interests of the complaining consumer. If
27 no agency exists, the Division of Consumer Services shall seek
28 a settlement of the complaint using formal or informal methods
29 of mediation and conciliation and may seek any other
30 resolution of the matter in accordance with its jurisdiction.
