| 8 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 9 |
|
| 10 | Section 1. Paragraph (d) of subsection (7) of section |
| 11 | 112.061, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: |
| 12 | 112.061 Per diem and travel expenses of public officers, |
| 13 | employees, and authorized persons.-- |
| 14 | (7) TRANSPORTATION.-- |
| 15 | (d)1. The use of privately owned vehicles for official |
| 16 | travel in lieu of publicly owned vehicles or common carriers may |
| 17 | be authorized by the agency head or his or her designee. |
| 18 | Whenever travel is by privately owned vehicle, the traveler is |
| 19 | shall be entitled to a mileage allowance equal to the business |
| 20 | standard mileage rate set by the United States Internal Revenue |
| 21 | Service for the calendar year in which the official travel |
| 22 | occurs at a fixed rate of 25 cents per mile for state fiscal |
| 23 | year 1994-1995 and 29 cents per mile thereafter or the common |
| 24 | carrier fare for such travel, as determined by the agency head. |
| 25 | Reimbursement for expenditures related to the operation, |
| 26 | maintenance, and ownership of a vehicle is shall not be allowed |
| 27 | when privately owned vehicles are used on public business and |
| 28 | reimbursement is made under pursuant to this paragraph, except |
| 29 | as provided in subsection (8). |
| 30 | 2. All mileage shall be shown from point of origin to |
| 31 | point of destination and, when possible, shall be computed on |
| 32 | the basis of the current map of the Department of |
| 33 | Transportation. Vicinity mileage necessary for the conduct of |
| 34 | official business is allowable but must be shown as a separate |
| 35 | item on the expense voucher. |
| 36 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
