10 | motor vehicle knew or should have known that the motor |
11 | vehicle had been stolen; providing an effective date. |

13 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

15 | Section 1. Subsection (6) is added to section 812.022, |
16 | Florida Statutes, to read: |
17 | 812.022 Evidence of theft or dealing in stolen property.-- |
18 | (6) Proof that a person was in possession of a stolen |
19 | motor vehicle and that the ignition mechanism of the motor |
20 | vehicle had been bypassed or the steering wheel locking |
21 | mechanism had been broken or bypassed, unless satisfactorily |
22 | explained, gives rise to an inference that the person in |
23 | possession of the stolen motor vehicle knew or should have known |
24 | that the motor vehicle had been stolen. |
25 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
