15 On page 22, line 26, through
16 page 23, line 6, delete those lines

18 and insert: school enrollment.
19 1. Beginning in the 2007-2008 school year, a student
20 who withdraws from a public school for reasons other than
21 graduating or transferring to another school within or outside
22 the state must have an exit interview with a counselor who
23 presents the student with information concerning:
24 a. The value of a high school education, both
25 financial and cultural;
26 b. The alternative assessments, such as the SAT and
27 the ACT, the scores of which could help the student obtain a
28 high school diploma; and
29 c. The postsecondary options that are available,
30 including workforce training and enrolling in a community
31 college or a university, and the prerequisites to each, with

1 or without a diploma. The instruction must include a detailed
2 discussion of the relative advantages and disadvantages of
3 each alternative.
4 2. In the exit interview, the counselor must also
5 determine where the student plans to go, and the school must
6 assign to the student a counselor who will serve as a resource
7 for educational information until he or she attains the age of
8 18 years.

13 On page 137, line 1, after the semicolon,
14
15 insert:
16 requiring that a counselor present specified
17 information to such a student and assign to the
18 student a followup counselor who will provide
19 educational information until he or she is 18
20 years of age;
