5 | Section 1. Paragraph (c) is added to subsection (7) of |
6 | section 106.08, Florida Statutes, to read: |
7 | 106.08 Contributions; limitations on.-- |

9 | (c) A member of the Legislature, a statewide officeholder, |
10 | or a candidate for legislative or statewide office may not, |
11 | directly or indirectly, solicit, cause to be solicited, or |
12 | accept any contribution to or on behalf of a political |
13 | committee, committee of continuous existence, electioneering |
14 | communications organization, or, except for a political party or |
15 | campaign of the candidate, any organization described under s. |
16 | 527 of the Internal Revenue Code, and may not control or |
17 | coordinate or consult regarding the expenditure or raising of |
18 | funds for any such committee or organization. Notwithstanding |
19 | any other provision of this chapter, any person who knowingly |
20 | and willfully violates any provision of this paragraph commits a |
21 | felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. |
22 | 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. |
23 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
