13 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
14 On page 1, between lines 23 and 24,

16 insert:
17 Section 1. Subsection (5) is added to section 489.516,
18 Florida Statutes, to read:
19 489.516 Qualifications to practice; restrictions;
20 prerequisites.--
21 (5) Notwithstanding any other provision to the
22 contrary, a certified electrical contractor, registered alarm
23 system contractor I, registered alarm system contractor II, or
24 alarm system contractor I or alarm system contractor II that
25 is a certified alarm system contractor is exempt from any
26 local law, local ordinance, or local code that requires a
27 contractor to be listed or placarded by a nationally
28 recognized testing laboratory or to be certified by any
29 regionally or nationally recognized certification
30 organization. However, a county, municipality, or special
31 district may require any such electrical contractor or alarm

1 system contractor to provide, at the final inspection of a
2 fire alarm system, the documentation required by NFPA No. 72,
3 "National Fire Alarm Code," for installation and monitoring.
4 This subsection does not prohibit a county, municipality, or
5 special district from requiring compliance with the Florida
6 Fire Prevention Code or with NFPA No. 72.

13 On page 1, line 3, after the first semicolon,

15 insert:
16 amending s. 489.516, F.S.; exempting certain
17 electrical and alarm system contractors from
18 ordinances or codes of local governments or
19 special districts requiring various types of
20 recognition by certain national entities;
21 authorizing local governments or special
22 districts to require such contractors to
23 provide certain documentation at the final
24 inspection of an alarm system; reserving the
25 authority of local governments and special
26 districts to require compliance with the
27 Florida Fire Prevention Code and NFPA No. 72;
