14 On page 18, between lines 9 and 10,

16 insert:
17 Section 8. (1) Each public school that is a member of
18 the Florida High School Athletic Association must have an
19 operational automated external defibrillator on the school
20 grounds. Public and private partnerships are encouraged to
21 cover the cost associated with the purchase and placement of
22 the defibrillator and training in the use of the
23 defibrillator.
24 (2) Each school must ensure that all employees or
25 volunteers who are reasonably expected to use the device
26 obtain appropriate training, including completion of a course
27 in cardiopulmonary resuscitation or a basic first aid course
28 that includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, and
29 demonstrated proficiency in the use of an automated external
30 defibrillator.
31 (3) The location of each automated external

1 defibrillator must be registered with a local emergency
2 medical services medical director.
3 (4) The use of automated external defibrillators by
4 employees and volunteers is covered under ss. 768.13 and
5 768.1325, Florida Statutes.
6 Section 9. Section 401.2915, Florida Statutes, is
7 amended to read:
8 401.2915 Automated external defibrillators.--It is the
9 intent of the Legislature that an automated external
10 defibrillator may be used by any person for the purpose of
11 saving the life of another person in cardiac arrest. In order
12 to ensure public health and safety:
13 (1) All persons who use an automated external
14 defibrillator must obtain appropriate training, to include
15 completion of a course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation or
16 successful completion of a basic first aid course that
17 includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, and
18 demonstrated proficiency in the use of an automated external
19 defibrillator.
20 (1)(2) Any person or entity in possession of an
21 automated external defibrillator is encouraged to register
22 with the local emergency medical services medical director the
23 existence and location of the automated external
24 defibrillator.
25 (2)(3) Any person who uses an automated external
26 defibrillator shall activate the emergency medical services
27 system as soon as possible upon use of the automated external
28 defibrillator.
29 (3)(4) Each local and state law enforcement vehicle
30 may carry an automated external defibrillator.
