A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to regulation of court interpreters;
3requiring the Supreme Court to establish standards and
4procedures for qualifications, certification, conduct,
5discipline, and training of appointed court interpreters;
6authorizing the Supreme Court to set fees for
7certification applications; specifying the use and deposit
8of such fees; authorizing the Supreme Court to appoint or
9employ personnel for certain administration assistance
10purposes; providing an effective date.

12Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14     Section 1.  The Supreme Court shall establish minimum
15standards and procedures for qualifications, certification,
16professional conduct, discipline, and training of court
17interpreters who are appointed by a court of competent
18jurisdiction. The Supreme Court may set fees to be charged to
19applicants for certification and renewal of certification as a
20court interpreter. The revenues generated from such fees shall
21be used to partially offset the costs of administration of the
22certification program and shall be deposited into the Grants and
23Donations Trust Fund within the state courts system. The Supreme
24Court may appoint or employ such personnel as is necessary to
25assist the court in administering this section.
26     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
