A bill to be entitled
6An act relating to regulation of foreign language court
7interpreters; requiring the Supreme Court to establish
8standards and procedures for qualifications,
9certification, conduct, discipline, and training of
10appointed foreign language court interpreters; authorizing
11the Supreme Court to set fees for certification
12applications; specifying the use and deposit of such fees;
13authorizing the Supreme Court to appoint or employ
14personnel for certain administration assistance purposes;
15providing an effective date.

17Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

19     Section 1.  The Supreme Court shall establish minimum
20standards and procedures for qualifications, certification,
21professional conduct, discipline, and training of foreign
22language court interpreters who are appointed by a court of
23competent jurisdiction. The Supreme Court may set fees to be
24charged to applicants for certification and renewal of
25certification as a foreign language court interpreter. The
26revenues generated from such fees shall be used to offset the
27costs of administration of the certification program and shall
28be deposited into the Grants and Donations Trust Fund within the
29state courts system. The Supreme Court may appoint or employ
30such personnel as is necessary to assist the court in
31administering this section.
32     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
