7 | interpreters; requiring the Supreme Court to establish |
8 | standards and procedures for qualifications, |
9 | certification, conduct, discipline, and training of |
10 | appointed foreign language court interpreters; requiring |
11 | the Supreme Court to set fees for certification |
12 | applications; specifying the use and deposit of such fees; |
13 | authorizing the Supreme Court to appoint or employ |
14 | personnel for certain administration assistance purposes; |
15 | providing an effective date. |

17 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

19 | Section 1. The Supreme Court shall establish minimum |
20 | standards and procedures for qualifications, certification, |
21 | professional conduct, discipline, and training of foreign |
22 | language court interpreters who are appointed by a court of |
23 | competent jurisdiction. The Supreme Court shall set fees to be |
24 | charged to applicants for certification and renewal of |
25 | certification as a foreign language court interpreter. The |
26 | revenues generated from such fees shall be used to fully offset |
27 | the costs of administration of the certification program and |
28 | shall be deposited into the Operating Trust Fund within the |
29 | state courts system. The Supreme Court may appoint or employ |
30 | such personnel as is necessary to assist the court in |
31 | administering this section. |
32 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
