A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to regulation of foreign language court
3interpreters; requiring the Supreme Court to establish
4standards and procedures for qualifications,
5certification, conduct, discipline, and training of
6appointed foreign language court interpreters; requiring
7the Supreme Court to set fees for certification
8applications; specifying the use and deposit of such fees;
9authorizing the Supreme Court to appoint or employ
10personnel for certain administration assistance purposes;
11providing an effective date.

13Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15     Section 1.  The Supreme Court shall establish minimum
16standards and procedures for qualifications, certification,
17professional conduct, discipline, and training of foreign
18language court interpreters who are appointed by a court of
19competent jurisdiction. The Supreme Court shall set fees to be
20charged to applicants for certification and renewal of
21certification as a foreign language court interpreter. The
22revenues generated from such fees shall be used to offset the
23costs of administration of the certification program and shall
24be deposited into the Operating Trust Fund within the state
25courts system. The Supreme Court may appoint or employ such
26personnel as is necessary to assist the court in administering
27this section.
28     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
