1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to concealed weapons or
3 firearms; amending s. 790.06, F.S.; providing
4 that a license to carry a concealed weapon or
5 firearm does not authorize a person to carry
6 such weapon or firearm into a health care
7 facility; providing an effective date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
10
11 Section 1. Subsection (12) of section 790.06, Florida
12 Statutes, is amended to read:
13 790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--
14 (12) A No license issued pursuant to this section does
15 not shall authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or
16 firearm into any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05;
17 any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station; any detention
18 facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse; any courtroom,
19 except that nothing in this section does not would preclude a
20 judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will
21 carry a concealed weapon in his or her courtroom; any polling
22 place; any health care facility; any meeting of the governing
23 body of a county, public school district, municipality, or
24 special district; any meeting of the Legislature or a
25 committee thereof; any school, college, or professional
26 athletic event not related to firearms; any school
27 administration building; any portion of an establishment
28 licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on
29 the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily
30 devoted to such purpose; any elementary or secondary school
31 facility; any career center; any college or university

1 facility unless the licensee is a registered student,
2 employee, or faculty member of such college or university and
3 the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or
4 device designed solely for defensive purposes and the weapon
5 does not fire a dart or projectile; inside the passenger
6 terminal and sterile area of any airport, if a provided that
7 no person is not shall be prohibited from carrying any legal
8 firearm into the terminal, which firearm is encased for
9 shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as baggage to
10 be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or any place where
11 the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law. Any
12 person who willfully violates any provision of this subsection
13 commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as
14 provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
15 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
