| 2 | An act relating to the Fran Reich Aquatic Preserve; |
| 3 | designating the Site 1 Impoundment project of the |
| 4 | Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan sponsored by the |
| 5 | South Florida Water Management District as the Fran Reich |
| 6 | Aquatic Preserve; directing the South Florida Water |
| 7 | Management District to erect suitable markers; providing |
| 8 | an effective date. |

| 10 | WHEREAS, Fran Reich founded the West Boca Community Council |
| 11 | and proudly served on the council as President, Chairman of the |
| 12 | Board, and Chairman Emeritus, and |
| 13 | WHEREAS, Fran Reich was a dedicated activist who worked |
| 14 | diligently to protect the communities of South Florida and to |
| 15 | improve the lives of others, and |
| 16 | WHEREAS, Fran Reich successfully led the victory that |
| 17 | protected and preserved the Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge, and |
| 18 | WHEREAS, such effort and commitment generated a legacy of |
| 19 | community awareness and involvement, NOW, THEREFORE, |
| 20 |

| 21 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 22 |
|
| 23 | Section 1. Fran Reich Aquatic Preserve designated; South |
| 24 | Florida Water Management District to erect suitable markers.-- |
| 25 | (1) The Site 1 Impoundment project of the Comprehensive |
| 26 | Everglades Restoration Plan sponsored by the South Florida Water |
| 27 | Management District is designated the "Fran Reich Aquatic |
| 28 | Preserve." |
| 29 | (2) The South Florida Water Management District is |
| 30 | directed to erect suitable markers designating the Fran Reich |
| 31 | Aquatic Preserve as described in subsection (1). |
| 32 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
