| 5 | WHEREAS, courageous dog handlers and their loyal service |
| 6 | dogs have proven to be of immeasurable value in times of war, |
| 7 | and |
| 8 | WHEREAS, military working dog teams have performed the |
| 9 | duties of protecting posts, leading patrols, and tracking and |
| 10 | have saved the lives of thousands of military personnel and |
| 11 | noncombatants, and |
| 12 | WHEREAS, thousands of military personnel have cared for and |
| 13 | formed unique bonds with these canines, and |
| 14 | WHEREAS, hundreds of these military dogs have died in |
| 15 | service to the troops and the nation, and |
| 16 | WHEREAS, these unsung heroes of past conflicts from World |
| 17 | War I through Korea and Vietnam and in recent battles in Iraq |
| 18 | and Afghanistan have the respect of their fellow troops and |
| 19 | indeed of the entire nation, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 21 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 22 | Florida: |

| 24 | That the House of Representatives designates November 1, |
| 25 | 2006, as "Military Service Dogs Day" in Florida, a day on which |
| 26 | all residents are urged to contemplate and appreciate the |
| 27 | services of these heroic animals and their dedicated handlers. |
