House Resolution
2A resolution designating November 1, 2006, as "Military
3Service Dogs Day" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, courageous dog handlers and their loyal service
6dogs have proven to be of immeasurable value in times of war,
7and
8     WHEREAS, military working dog teams have performed the
9duties of protecting posts, leading patrols, and tracking and
10have saved the lives of thousands of military personnel and
11noncombatants, and
12     WHEREAS, thousands of military personnel have cared for and
13formed unique bonds with these canines, and
14     WHEREAS, hundreds of these military dogs have died in
15service to the troops and the nation, and
16     WHEREAS, these unsung heroes of past conflicts from World
17War I through Korea and Vietnam and in recent battles in Iraq
18and Afghanistan have the respect of their fellow troops and
19indeed of the entire nation, NOW, THEREFORE,

21Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
22Florida:

24     That the House of Representatives designates November 1,
252006, as "Military Service Dogs Day" in Florida, a day on which
26all residents are urged to contemplate and appreciate the
27services of these heroic animals and their dedicated handlers.
