| 5 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County, one of the leading business |
| 6 | locations in the world, with a dynamic and positive business |
| 7 | climate, is the economic hub of the western gateway to the |
| 8 | Florida High Tech Corridor, an economic development initiative |
| 9 | that includes a mega region of 23 counties reaching eastward |
| 10 | across the state to the Atlantic Ocean, and |
| 11 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County is the largest partner in the |
| 12 | 7-county region that extends along the Gulf Coast from Hernando |
| 13 | to Sarasota Counties and includes Polk County to the west, an |
| 14 | area represented by the Bay Area Legislative Delegation, and |
| 15 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County hosts Tampa International |
| 16 | Airport, a leading global airport and the nation's 29th busiest, |
| 17 | and the Port of Tampa, Florida's largest cargo port, while also |
| 18 | serving as the nexus of the region's Interstate Highway System, |
| 19 | and |
| 20 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County offers a seamless continuum of |
| 21 | public education beginning with the School District of |
| 22 | Hillsborough County, proceeding to Hillsborough Community |
| 23 | College, and culminating with the University of South Florida, |
| 24 | which celebrates its 50th anniversary throughout 2006, and |
| 25 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County, with an average annual |
| 26 | temperature of 72 degrees, includes miles of waterways, |
| 27 | including beautiful Gulf and Bay shorelines, and the |
| 28 | Hillsborough River, a part of the regional water supply and a |
| 29 | significant recreational asset for numerous water-dependent |
| 30 | activities, and |
| 31 | WHEREAS, Hillsborough County, extending from emerging |
| 32 | SouthShore to historic Bayshore and from farmlands to an urban |
| 33 | core, offers a plethora of lifestyles, a wealth of cultural as |
| 34 | well as professional sports activities, and an abundance of |
| 35 | other year-round activities, both entertaining and educational, |
| 36 | NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 38 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 39 | Florida: |

| 41 | That April 20, 2006, is recognized as "Hillsborough County |
| 42 | Day" as the House of Representatives celebrates "Flavors of |
| 43 | Hillsborough" at the State Capitol. |
