1	House Resolution
2	A resolution honoring Chipola College student Kimberly
3	Garske, Florida's 2006 New Century Scholar.

5	WHEREAS, International Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa is
6	recognized as the primary community college organization for
7	honoring academic achievement, leadership, and service, and
8	WHEREAS, Chipola College student Kimberly Garske, as the
9	top-scoring student in Florida on the 2006 All-Florida Academic
10	Team, a team of highly successful community and junior college
11	students assembled by the Florida Community College System,
12	clearly merits her designation as Florida's 2006 New Century
13	Scholar and, as such, has brought honor to the state by her
14	recognition in USA Today as one of the top 50 community college
15	students in America, and
16	WHEREAS, since 1998, Chipola College has had five New
17	Century Scholars, eight Guistwhite Scholars, and nine All USA
18	Today Academic Team members, with each of these numbers
19	including Kimberly Garske for the year 2006, and
20	WHEREAS, since 2002, Chipola College students, including
21	Kimberly Garske in 2006, have won five of the six Leaders of
22	Promise awards given in Florida since the award was established,
23	and
24	WHEREAS, Chipola College's Kimberly Garske won four of the
25	five major Phi Theta Kappa awards: New Century Scholar,
26	Guistwhite Scholar, Leaders of Promise, and All USA Today
27	Academic Team, and
28	WHEREAS, the praiseworthy accomplishments of Kimberly
29	Garske, outstanding member of Chipola's international award-
30	winning Phi Theta Kappa chapter, command the respect and
31	admiration of the House of Representatives and the citizenry of
32	this state, both for herself and her academic institution, NOW,
33	THEREFORE,

35	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
36	Florida:

38	That Kimberly Garske is congratulated for the attainment of
39	a truly remarkable academic record and is extended sincere
40	wishes for equally successful endeavors in the future.
41	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
42	presented to Kimberly Garske and to Dr. Gene Prough, President
43	of Chipola College, as a tangible token of the sentiments
44	expressed herein.
