| 8 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 9 |
|
| 10 | Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 2001-307, Laws of Florida, |
| 11 | is amended to read: |
| 12 | Section 1. Pinellas County Tourist Development Council; |
| 13 | composition.--Notwithstanding the provisions of section |
| 14 | 125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, the Pinellas County Tourist |
| 15 | Development Council as established by Pinellas County ordinance |
| 16 | pursuant to section 125.0104, Florida Statutes, the "Local |
| 17 | Option Tourist Development Act," shall be composed of 12 11 |
| 18 | members who shall be appointed by the Pinellas County Board of |
| 19 | County Commissioners. The chair of the Pinellas County Board of |
| 20 | County Commissioners or any other member as designated by the |
| 21 | chair shall serve on the council. Four Three members of the |
| 22 | council shall be elected municipal officials, one of whom shall |
| 23 | be from the most populous municipality in Pinellas County, one |
| 24 | of whom shall be from the municipality in which the greatest |
| 25 | percentage of tourist development tax revenue is generated in |
| 26 | Pinellas County, and at least one of whom shall be from among |
| 27 | the cities of Belleair Beach, Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks |
| 28 | Beach, Indian Shores, Madeira Beach, North Redington Beach, |
| 29 | Redington Beach, Redington Shores, St. Pete Beach, and Treasure |
| 30 | Island, and one of whom shall be from a city in Pinellas County |
| 31 | that is not specifically named in this section. Seven members of |
| 32 | the council shall be persons who are involved in the tourist |
| 33 | industry and who have demonstrated an interest in tourist |
| 34 | development, of which members, not less than three nor more than |
| 35 | four shall be owners or operators of motels, hotels, |
| 36 | recreational vehicle parks, or other tourist accommodations in |
| 37 | the county and subject to the tax. All members of the council |
| 38 | shall be electors of the county. The changes in the composition |
| 39 | of the membership of the Pinellas County Tourist Development |
| 40 | Council mandated by this act are effective October 1, 2006 2001, |
| 41 | and shall not cause the interruption of the current term of any |
| 42 | person who is a member of the Pinellas County Tourist |
| 43 | Development Council on October 1, 2006 2001. Except as |
| 44 | specifically provided herein, the provisions of section |
| 45 | 125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, shall apply to the Pinellas |
| 46 | County Tourist Development Council. |
| 47 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
