A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Pinellas County Tourist Development
3Council, Pinellas County; amending chapter 2001-307, Laws
4of Florida; revising the membership of the council;
5providing the effective date for such changes in council
6membership; providing an effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  Section 1 of chapter 2001-307, Laws of Florida,
11is amended to read:
12     Section 1.  Pinellas County Tourist Development Council;
13composition.--Notwithstanding the provisions of section
14125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, the Pinellas County Tourist
15Development Council as established by Pinellas County ordinance
16pursuant to section 125.0104, Florida Statutes, the "Local
17Option Tourist Development Act," shall be composed of 12 11
18members who shall be appointed by the Pinellas County Board of
19County Commissioners. The chair of the Pinellas County Board of
20County Commissioners or any other member as designated by the
21chair shall serve on the council. Four Three members of the
22council shall be elected municipal officials, one of whom shall
23be from the most populous municipality in Pinellas County, one
24of whom shall be from the municipality in which the greatest
25percentage of tourist development tax revenue is generated in
26Pinellas County, and at least one of whom shall be from among
27the cities of Belleair Beach, Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks
28Beach, Indian Shores, Madeira Beach, North Redington Beach,
29Redington Beach, Redington Shores, St. Pete Beach, and Treasure
30Island, and one of whom shall be from a city in Pinellas County
31that is not specifically named in this section. Seven members of
32the council shall be persons who are involved in the tourist
33industry and who have demonstrated an interest in tourist
34development, of which members, not less than three nor more than
35four shall be owners or operators of motels, hotels,
36recreational vehicle parks, or other tourist accommodations in
37the county and subject to the tax. All members of the council
38shall be electors of the county. The changes in the composition
39of the membership of the Pinellas County Tourist Development
40Council mandated by this act are effective October 1, 2006 2001,
41and shall not cause the interruption of the current term of any
42person who is a member of the Pinellas County Tourist
43Development Council on October 1, 2006 2001. Except as
44specifically provided herein, the provisions of section
45125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, shall apply to the Pinellas
46County Tourist Development Council.
47     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
