2An act relating to safety belt law enforcement; creating
3the Dori Slosberg Safety Belt Law; amending s. 316.614,
4F.S.; deleting requirement for enforcement of the Florida
5Safety Belt Law as a secondary action; providing an
6effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  This act may be cited as the "Dori Slosberg
11Safety Belt Law."
12     Section 2.  Subsection (8) of section 316.614, Florida
13Statutes, is amended to read:
14     316.614  Safety belt usage.--
15     (8)  Any person who violates the provisions of this section
16commits a nonmoving violation, punishable as provided in chapter
17318. However, except for violations of s. 316.613 and paragraph
18(4)(a), enforcement of this section by state or local law
19enforcement agencies must be accomplished only as a secondary
20action when a driver of a motor vehicle has been detained for a
21suspected violation of another section of this chapter, chapter
22320, or chapter 322.
23     Section 3.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2006.
