12 the following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 Delete everything after the enacting clause
16
17 and insert:
18 Section 1. Paragraph (h) of subsection (6) of section
19 1007.35, Florida Statutes, is amended, and paragraphs (i),
20 (j), and (k) are added to that subsection, to read:
21 1007.35 Florida Partnership for Minority and
22 Underrepresented Student Achievement.--
23 (6) The partnership shall:
24 (h) Work with school districts to identify minority
25 and underrepresented students for participation in AP or other
26 advanced courses. Provide a plan of communication which
27 includes, but need not be limited to, disseminating to parents
28 materials that emphasize the importance of AP or other
29 advanced courses to a student's ability to gain access to and
30 to succeed in postsecondary education and materials that
31 emphasize the importance of the PSAT/NMSQT or PLAN, which

1 provide diagnostic feedback on skills and relate student
2 scores to the probability of success on AP or other advanced
3 course examinations, and also the dissemination of such
4 information to students, teachers, counselors, administrators,
5 districts, community colleges, and state universities. The
6 department shall assist the partnership in communicating
7 opportunities and priorities to administrators, teachers, and
8 counselors whenever possible.
9 (i) Work with school districts and provide information
10 to students and parents which explains available opportunities
11 for the student to take AP and other advanced courses and
12 describes enrollment procedures that the student must follow
13 in order to enroll in such courses. Such information must also
14 explain the value of such courses as related to:
15 1. Preparing the student for postsecondary-level
16 coursework;
17 2. Enabling the student to gain access to
18 postsecondary education opportunities; and
19 3. Qualifying for scholarships and other financial aid
20 opportunities.
21 (j) Provide information to students, parents,
22 teachers, counselors, administrators, districts, community
23 colleges, and state universities regarding PSAT/NMSQT or PLAN
24 administration, including, but not limited to:
25 1. Test administration dates and times;
26 2. Notice that participation in the PSAT/NMSQT or PLAN
27 is open to all 10th grade students;
28 3. The value of such tests in providing diagnostic
29 feedback concerning student skills; and
30 4. The value of student scores in predicting the
31 probability of success on AP or other advanced course

2 (k) Cooperate with the department to provide
3 information about partnership activities, opportunities, and
4 priorities to administrators, teachers, and counselors
5 whenever possible.
6 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.

22 cooperate with school districts to provide
23 information to parents regarding AP and other
24 advanced courses; requiring that the
25 partnership provide certain information to
26 specified persons and entities regarding
27 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship
28 Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), or Preliminary
29 ACT (PLAN) administration; requiring that the
30 partnership cooperate with the department to
31 provide information regarding partnership
