11 Senator Geller moved the following amendment:

14 On page 52, line 14, through
15 page 53, line 15, delete those lines
16
17 and insert:
18 (2) The regional counsel of each judicial district,
19 the assistant regional counsel, and other staff as determined
20 by general law, and other needs of such offices including
21 costs relating to communications and other technology
22 services, security, and facilities for the offices of criminal
23 conflict and civil regional counsel.
24 (3)(2) Reasonable court reporting and transcription
25 services necessary to meet constitutional or statutory
26 requirements, including the cost of transcribing and copying
27 depositions of witnesses and the cost of foreign language and
28 sign-language interpreters and translators.
29 (4)(3) Witnesses, including expert witnesses, summoned
30 to appear for an investigation, preliminary hearing, or trial
31 in a case when the witnesses are summoned on behalf of an

1 indigent defendant, and any other expert witnesses required in
2 a court hearing by law or whomever the public defender or
3 regional counsel deems necessary for the performance of his or
4 her duties.
5 (5)(4) Mental health professionals appointed pursuant
6 to s. 394.473 and required in a court hearing involving an
7 indigent, and mental health professionals appointed pursuant
8 to s. 916.115(2) and required in a court hearing involving an
9 indigent.
10 (6)(5) Reasonable transportation services in the
11 performance of constitutional and statutory responsibilities.
12 Motor vehicles owned by counties and provided exclusively to
13 public defenders as of July 1, 2003, and any additional
14 vehicles owned by the counties and provided exclusively to
15 public defenders during fiscal year 2003-2004 shall be
16 transferred by title to the state effective July 1, 2004.
17 (7)(6) Travel expenses reimbursable under s. 112.061
18 reasonably necessary in the performance of constitutional and
19 statutory responsibilities.
20 (8)(7) Reasonable library and electronic legal
21 research services, other than a public law library.
22 (9)(8) Reasonable pretrial consultation fees and
23 costs.
