A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to campaign contributions; amending s.
3106.08, F.S.; prohibiting legislators, statewide
4officeholders, and certain candidates from soliciting or
5accepting contributions to or on behalf of a political
6committee, committee of continuous existence,
7electioneering communications organization, or any
8organization described in s. 527 of the Internal Revenue
9Code from controlling or coordinating or consulting with
10any such committee or organization; providing exceptions;
11providing penalties; providing an effective date.

13Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15     Section 1.  Paragraph (c) is added to subsection (7) of
16section 106.08, Florida Statutes, to read:
17     106.08  Contributions; limitations on.--
18     (7)
19     (c)  A member of the Legislature, a statewide officeholder,
20or a candidate for legislative or statewide office may not,
21directly or indirectly, solicit, cause to be solicited, or
22accept any contribution to or on behalf of a political
23committee, committee of continuous existence, electioneering
24communications organization, or, except for a political party or
25campaign of the candidate, any organization described under s.
26527 of the Internal Revenue Code, and may not control or
27coordinate or consult regarding the expenditure or raising of
28funds for any such committee or organization. Notwithstanding
29any other provision of this chapter, any person who knowingly
30and willfully violates any provision of this paragraph commits a
31felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s.
32775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
33     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
