1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the carrying of concealed
3 weapons or firearms by judges; amending s.
4 790.061, F.S.; exempting bankruptcy court
5 judges and magistrates from certain
6 requirements for obtaining a license to carry a
7 concealed weapon or firearm; providing an
8 effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Section 790.061, Florida Statutes, is
13 amended to read:
14 790.061 Judges and justices; exceptions from licensure
15 provisions.--A county court judge, circuit court judge,
16 district court of appeal judge, justice of the supreme court,
17 federal district court judge, bankruptcy court judge,
18 magistrate, or federal court of appeals judge serving in this
19 state is not required to comply with the provisions of s.
20 790.06 in order to receive a license to carry a concealed
21 weapon or firearm, except that any such justice or judge must
22 comply with the provisions of s. 790.06(2)(h). The Department
23 of Agriculture and Consumer Services shall issue a license to
24 carry a concealed weapon or firearm to any such justice or
25 judge upon demonstration of competence of the justice or judge
26 pursuant to s. 790.06(2)(h).
27 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
28 law.
