5 | Section 2. Subsection (1) of section 112.533, Florida |
6 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
7 | 112.533 Receipt and processing of complaints.-- |
8 | (1) Every law enforcement agency and correctional agency, |
9 | including sheriffs, shall establish and put into operation a |
10 | system for the receipt, investigation, and determination of |
11 | complaints received by any governmental agency or political |
12 | subdivision such agency from any person, which shall be the |
13 | procedure for investigating or reviewing a complaint against a |
14 | law enforcement and correctional officer or and for determining |
15 | whether to proceed with disciplinary action or to file |
16 | disciplinary charges, notwithstanding any other law or ordinance |
17 | to the contrary. This subsection does not preclude the Criminal |
18 | Justice Standards and Training Commission from exercising its |
19 | authority under chapter 943. |
