A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Hobe-St. Lucie Conservancy
3District, Martin County; amending chapter 2005-339, Laws
4of Florida; correcting the legal description of the
5boundaries of the district; revising requirements for
6membership on the board of supervisors; clarifying
7applicability of general law; providing an effective date.

9Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
10
11     Section 1.  Section 1, subsection (1) of section 2, and
12section 3 of section 3 of chapter 2005-339, Laws of Florida, are
13amended to read:
14     Section 1.  All of those certain pieces, parcels, and
15tracts of land in Martin County included and contained within

620     Section 3.  (1)  The Hobe-St. Lucie Conservancy District is
621hereby expressly designated as a water control district in
622accordance with section 298.001, Florida Statutes, and is
623required to comply with the provisions of chapter 298, Florida
624Statutes.
625     (2)  In accordance with this charter and chapters 189 and
626298, Florida Statutes, to the extent not inconsistent with this
627charter, the district is governed by a three-member board,
628elected on a 1-acre, 1-vote basis by the landowners in the
629district; however, landowners owning less than 1 acre shall be
630entitled to one vote. Landowners with more than 1 acre shall be
631entitled to one additional vote for any fraction of an acre
632greater than 1/2 acre owned, when all of the landowner's acreage
633has been aggregated for purposes of voting. The governing board
634of the district shall be designated the "Board of Supervisors of
635Hobe-St. Lucie Conservancy District" and shall be composed of
636three persons, who shall be residents of the state and citizens
637of the United States. The membership and organization of the
638board shall be as set forth in this charter and chapter 298,
639Florida Statutes, provided this charter controls with respect to
640any inconsistency.
641     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
