1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to the Hobe-St. Lucie Conservancy
3	District, Martin County; amending chapter 2005-339, Laws
4	of Florida; correcting the legal description of the
5	boundaries of the district; revising requirements for
6	membership on the board of supervisors; clarifying
7	applicability of general law; providing an effective date.

9	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
10
11	Section 1.  Section 1, subsection (1) of section 2, and
12	section 3 of section 3 of chapter 2005-339, Laws of Florida, are
13	amended to read:
14	Section 1.  All of those certain pieces, parcels, and
15	tracts of land in Martin County included and contained within
16	the following described boundary lines, to wit:

620	Section 3.  (1)  The Hobe-St. Lucie Conservancy District is
621	hereby expressly designated as a water control district in
622	accordance with section 298.001, Florida Statutes, and is
623	required to comply with the provisions of chapter 298, Florida
624	Statutes.
625	(2)  In accordance with this charter and chapters 189 and
626	298, Florida Statutes, to the extent not inconsistent with this
627	charter, the district is governed by a three-member board,
628	elected on a 1-acre, 1-vote basis by the landowners in the
629	district; however, landowners owning less than 1 acre shall be
630	entitled to one vote. Landowners with more than 1 acre shall be
631	entitled to one additional vote for any fraction of an acre
632	greater than 1/2 acre owned, when all of the landowner's acreage
633	has been aggregated for purposes of voting. The governing board
634	of the district shall be designated the "Board of Supervisors of
635	Hobe-St. Lucie Conservancy District" and shall be composed of
636	three persons, who shall be residents of the state and citizens
637	of the United States. The membership and organization of the
638	board shall be as set forth in this charter and chapter 298,
639	Florida Statutes, provided this charter controls with respect to
640	any inconsistency.
641	Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
