A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Hillsborough County Civil Service
3Board; amending chapter 2000-445, Laws of Florida;
4providing a definition; adding a class of employment
5exempt from the classified service; providing an effective
6date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  Subsections (19) through (32) of section 5 of
11chapter 2000-445, Laws of Florida, are renumbered as subsections
12(20) through (33), respectively, and a new subsection (19) is
13added to that section, to read:
14     Section 5.  Definitions.--As used in this act:
15     (19)  "Information technology professional" means a
16position designated by an appointing authority after July 1,
172007, for which a qualified applicant would have demonstrable
18and creditable experience in the development or management of
19computer, telecommunication, or data-sharing systems and
20generally including graduation from an accredited college or
21university in an appropriately related field or recognized
22industry standard certification and excluding, notwithstanding
23any other provision of law, any information technology position
24in the classified service as of January 1, 2007, except and
25unless that position is vacant at the time a designation is made
26or an incumbent in any such position concurs with a transfer to
27the exempt service as a designated information technology
28professional.
29     Section 2.  Paragraphs (e) and (f) of subsection (2) of
30section 6 of chapter 2000-445, Laws of Florida, are redesignated
31as paragraphs (f) and (g), respectively, and a new paragraph (e)
32is added to that subsection, to read:
33     Section 6.  Classes of employees.--
34     (2)  The following classes of employment are exempt from
35the classified service and are subject to any rights provided by
36their appointing authority. The exempt service includes:
37     (e)  Information technology professionals;
38     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
