  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to local business taxes;

  3         amending s. 205.033, F.S.; specifying

  4         additional uses of business tax revenues;

  5         providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9         Section 1.  Paragraph (b) of subsection (6) of section

10  205.033, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

11         205.033  Conditions for levy; counties.--

12         (6)

13         (b)  Subsections (4) and (5) do not apply to any

14  revenues derived from the additional tax imposed under this

15  subsection. Proceeds from the additional business tax must be

16  placed in a separate interest-earning account, and the

17  governing body of the county shall distribute this revenue,

18  plus accrued interest, each fiscal year to an organization or

19  agency designated by the governing body of the county to

20  oversee and implement a comprehensive economic development

21  strategy through advertising, promotional activities, and

22  other sales and marketing techniques. Revenues from the

23  business tax may also be used by the organization or agency

24  for the attraction, retention, and expansion of small

25  businesses within the county.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
