| 5 | Section 1. Subsection (8) is added to section 290.0065, |
| 6 | Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 7 | 290.0065 State designation of enterprise zones.-- |
| 8 | (8) Before December 31, 2007, any county as defined in s. |
| 9 | 125.011(1) may apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and |
| 10 | Economic Development to amend the boundaries of an existing |
| 11 | enterprise zone for the purpose of replacing an area of not more |
| 12 | than 204 acres which is not suitable for development with an |
| 13 | area of the same number of acres which is suitable for |
| 14 | development. The area suitable for development must be |
| 15 | contiguous to the existing enterprise zone and must be part of a |
| 16 | community redevelopment area that has been approved and targeted |
| 17 | for revitalization by the county. The area suitable for |
| 18 | redevelopment shall be a master planned community that is being |
| 19 | constructed in accordance with an approved conceptual master |
| 20 | plan for the development of the area. The Office of Tourism, |
| 21 | Trade, and Economic Development shall approve the amendment |
| 22 | effective January 1, 2008, if the enterprise zone remains |
| 23 | consistent with the criteria and conditions imposed by s. |
| 24 | 290.0055 upon the establishment of enterprise zones, including |
| 25 | the requirement that the area suffer from pervasive poverty, |
| 26 | unemployment, and general distress. |
