| 5 | Section 1. Subsection (8) is added to section 290.0065, |
| 6 | Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 7 | 290.0065 State designation of enterprise zones.-- |
| 8 | (8) Before December 31, 2007, any county as defined in s. |
| 9 | 125.011(1) may apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and |
| 10 | Economic Development to amend the boundaries of an existing |
| 11 | enterprise zone for the purpose of replacing an area of not more |
| 12 | than 204 acres which is not suitable for development. The area |
| 13 | suitable for development must be contiguous to the existing |
| 14 | enterprise zone and must be part of a community redevelopment |
| 15 | area that has been approved and targeted for revitalization by |
| 16 | the county. The area suitable for redevelopment shall be a |
| 17 | master planned community that is being constructed in accordance |
| 18 | with an approved conceptual master plan for the development of |
| 19 | the area. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development |
| 20 | shall approve the amendment effective January 1, 2008, if the |
| 21 | enterprise zone remains consistent with the criteria and |
| 22 | conditions imposed by s. 290.0055 upon the establishment of |
| 23 | enterprise zones, including the requirement that the area suffer |
| 24 | from pervasive poverty, unemployment, and general distress. |
