1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to county reimbursement of hospitals;
3	creating s. 154.317, F.S.; authorizing a county hospital
4	or hospital district to request reimbursement of costs of
5	care incurred for an indigent person from the person's
6	county of residence; requiring the county of residence to
7	reimburse the hospital or hospital district for costs of
8	care for indigent persons within a certain number of days
9	following the date of the request; providing an effective
10	date.

12	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14	Section 1.  Section 154.317, Florida Statutes, is created
15	to read:
16	154.317  Expedited reimbursement process.--Notwithstanding
17	any other provision of this part, a hospital that is an
18	instrumentality of a county and a county hospital district may
19	immediately request reimbursement of reasonable and necessary
20	costs of care incurred for an indigent person from the indigent
21	person's county of residence. The county of residence shall
22	reimburse the county or county hospital district for the
23	reasonable and necessary costs of care for the indigent person
24	within 60 days after the date of the request.
25	Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
