1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the United States Marine
3 Corps license plate; amending s. 320.08058,
4 F.S.; revising authorized allocation of the
5 annual use fee; providing an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
8
9 Section 1. Subsection (29) of section 320.08058,
10 Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
11 320.08058 Specialty license plates.--
12 (29) UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS LICENSE PLATES.--
13 (a) The department shall develop a United States
14 Marine Corps license plate as provided in this section. The
15 word "Florida" must appear at the top center of the plate, and
16 the words "Marine Corps" must appear at the bottom center of
17 the plate. The United States Marine Corps logo, 3 inches in
18 diameter, must appear on the left side centered top to bottom
19 of the plate in proper colors.
20 (b) The department shall distribute the United States
21 Marine Corps license plate annual use fees as provided in this
22 paragraph. in the following manner:
23 1. The first $50,000 collected annually shall be
24 distributed to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Inc.
25 2. Any remaining fees collected annually shall be
26 distributed as follows:
27 a. Thirty-five percent shall be deposited in the State
28 Homes for Veterans Trust Fund and must be used solely for the
29 purpose of constructing, operating, and maintaining
30 domiciliary and nursing homes for veterans subject to the
31 requirements of chapter 216.

1 b.2. Sixty-five percent Any additional fees collected
2 annually shall be distributed to deposited in the Marine Corps
3 Scholarship Foundation, Inc., successor to the USMC
4 Tag/Scholarship Fund, Inc., which shall use the fees to fund
5 scholarships and assist Marine Corps Junior ROTC and Young
6 Marine programs of this state. The foundation shall develop a
7 plan to distribute the funds to recipients nominated by
8 residents of the state to receive scholarships, and to the
9 Marine Corps Junior ROTC and Young Marine programs in the
10 state.
11 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.

COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

16 This committee substitute revises the distribution formula for
funds generated by the sales of U. S. Marine Corps specialty
17 license plates. Under this revision, the first $50,000
collected annually shall be distributed to the Marine Corps
18 Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Any remaining fees collected
shall be distributed thirty-five percent to the State Homes
19 for Veterans Trust Fund and sixty-five percent to the Marine
Corps Scholarship Foundation.
