11  The Committee on Commerce (Lynn) recommended the following
12  amendment:

14         Senate Amendment 
15         On page 2, lines 21-30, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  certificate may have an expiration date of not
18  less than 3 years if it is provided as a charitable
19  contribution when no consideration is given to the issuer by
20  the consumer, and not less than 1 year if it is provided as a
21  benefit pursuant to an employee-incentive program,
22  consumer-loyalty program, or promotional program when no
23  consideration is given to the issuer by the consumer and the
24  expiration date is prominently disclosed in writing to the
25  consumer at the time it is provided. In addition, a gift
26  certificate may have an expiration date if it is provided as
27  part of a larger package related to a convention, conference,
28  vacation, or sporting or fine arts event having a limited
29  duration so long as the majority of the value paid by the
30  recipient is attributable to the convention, conference,
31  vacation, or event.
