11  The Committee on Governmental Operations (Lawson) recommended
12  the following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 12, lines 18-24, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  
18         Section 2.  The Department of Children and Family
19  Services shall contract with an existing private nonprofit
20  corporation, incorporated for the purpose of identifying,
21  funding, supporting, and evaluating programs and community
22  initiatives to improve the development and life outcomes of
23  children and to preserve and strengthen families with a
24  primary emphasis on education and community support. The
25  existing private nonprofit corporation shall implement the
26  Magic City Children's Zone Pilot Project.
27         Section 3.  The sum of $3.6 million in nonrecurring
28  funds is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund and the
29  sum of $28,362 in nonrecurring funds is appropriated from the
30  Tobacco Settlement Trust Fund to the Department of Children
31  and Family Services during the 2007-2008 fiscal year as a

 1  grant for a 3-year period for the purposes of implementing the
 2  provisions of this act, which includes contracting with a
 3  nonprofit corporation to develop a business plan and for the
 4  evaluation, fiscal management, and oversight of the pilot
 5  program.
