2 An act relating to information technology
3 management; creating s. 282.0051, F.S.;
4 providing legislative findings and intent with
5 respect to optimizing the state's use of
6 information technology; providing an effective
7 date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Section 282.0051, Florida Statutes, is
12 created to read:
13 282.0051 Information technology management.--The
14 Legislature finds that the state needs an information
15 technology architecture that supports the business needs of
16 individual agencies while optimizing the state's collective
17 use of information technology through integration,
18 coordination, consolidation, and sharing. It is the intent of
19 the Legislature that:
20 (1) The state make governmental information and
21 services more accessible to the public by developing a
22 statewide Internet portal presence, a state e-mail system, and
23 state security protocols.
24 (2) Each state agency develop and implement
25 information technology in the best interest of the state by
26 means that are cost-effective, efficient, and
27 non-vendor-specific, and that maximize use of shared data and
28 resources.
29 (3) Agency information technology investments be
30 governed responsibly, consistent with fiscal and substantive

1 policies established by the Legislature, and aligned with
2 business needs.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
