11  The Committee on Governmental Operations (Lawson) recommended
12  the following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 4, between lines 25 and 26,
16  
17  insert:  
18         (7)  The board of trustees may, upon written request by
19  the retiree of the plan, or by a dependent, when authorized by
20  the retiree or the retiree's beneficiary, authorize the plan
21  administrator to withhold from the monthly retirement payment
22  those funds that are necessary to pay for the benefits being
23  received through the governmental entity from which the
24  employee retired, to pay the certified bargaining agent of the
25  governmental entity, and to make any payments for child
26  support or alimony. Further, the board of trustees may, upon
27  written request of the retiree of the plan, authorize the plan
28  administrator to withhold from the retirement payment those
29  funds that are necessary to pay for premiums for accident,
30  health, and long-term care insurance for the retiree and the
31  retiree's spouse and dependents. A retirement plan does not

 1  incur any liability for participation in this permissive
 2  program if its actions are taken in good faith.

 7         On page 1, line 8, after the semicolon,
 8  
 9  insert:
10         authorizing the plan administrator to withhold
11         funds to pay for premiums for accident, health,
12         and long-term care insurance for the retiree
13         and the retiree's spouse and dependents;
14         providing an exemption from liability under
15         certain circumstances;
