16            page 12, line 18, delete those lines

18  and insert:  
19         (7)(6)  "Child" has the same meaning as in s. 39.01
20  means a son or daughter, whether by birth or adoption.
21         (8)(7)  "Court" means any circuit court of this state
22  and, when the context requires, the court of any state that is
23  empowered to grant petitions for adoption.
24         (9)(8)  "Department" means the Department of Children
25  and Family Services.
26         (10)(9)  "Intermediary" means an attorney who is
27  licensed or authorized to practice in this state and who is
28  placing or intends to place a child for adoption, including
29  placing children born in another state with citizens of this
30  state or country or placing children born in this state with
31  citizens of another state or country.

Florida Senate - 2007 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT Bill No. SB 2030 Barcode 931674 1 (11) "Legal custodian" means the person or entity in 2 whom the legal right to custody is vested. 3 (12)(10) "Legal custody" means a legal status created 4 by court order or letter of guardianship that vests in a 5 custodian or guardian of the child, whether an agency or an 6 individual, the right to have physical custody of the child 7 and the right and duty to protect, train, and discipline the 8 child and to provide him or her with food, shelter, education, 9 and ordinary medical, dental, psychiatric, and psychological 10 care has the meaning ascribed in s. 39.01. 11 (11) "Minor" means a person under the age of 18 years. 12 (13)(12) "Parent" means a woman who gives birth to a 13 child or a man whose consent to the adoption of the child 14 would be required under s. 63.062(1). If a child has been 15 legally adopted, the term "parent" means the adoptive mother 16 or father of the child. The term does not include an 17 individual whose parental relationship to the child has been 18 legally terminated or an alleged or prospective father has the 19 same meaning ascribed in s. 39.01. 20 (13) "Person" includes a natural person, corporation, 21 government or governmental subdivision or agency, business 22 trust, estate, trust, partnership, or association, and any 23 other legal entity. 24 (14)(15) "Placement" or "to place" means the process 25 of a parent or legal guardian surrendering a child for 26 adoption and the prospective adoptive parents receiving and 27 adopting the child, and includes all actions by any person or 28 adoption entity participating in the process. 29 (15) "Primarily lives and works in Florida" means that 30 a person lives and works in this state at least 6 months and 1 31 day of the year, is a member of military personnel who 2 2:43 PM 04/09/07 s2030b-cf34-c07

L. 3 No. 108-189, or is a citizen of the United States living in a 4 foreign country who designates Florida as his or her place of 5 residence. 6 (16) "Placement" means the process of a parent or 7 legal guardian surrendering a child for adoption and the 8 prospective adoptive parents receiving and adopting the child 9 and all actions by any adoption entity participating in 10 placing the child. 11 (16)(17) "Primarily lives and works outside Florida" 12 means that a person who lives and works outside this state at 13 least 6 months and 1 day of the year, is a member of military 14 personnel who designates a state other than designate Florida 15 as his or her their place of residence in accordance with the 16 Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, Pub. L.
