  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Business-Community (ABC)

  3         School Program; amending s. 1013.721, F.S.;

  4         requiring each school board to hold a public

  5         meeting to allow parents and representatives

  6         from local businesses to discuss community

  7         partnerships as part of district's ABC program;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 1013.721, Florida

13  Statutes, is amended to read:

14         1013.721  A Business-Community (ABC) School Program.--

15         (3)  Each school board shall hold a public meeting that

16  must be noticed and advertised in order to allow parents and

17  representatives, through advertisements in local media and

18  other means, request proposals from area businesses to come

19  together to discuss allow the operation of a business and

20  education partnership school in facilities owned or operated

21  by the local businesses business. The Department of Education

22  shall require each school board to submit documentation to the

23  department which demonstrates the board's compliance with this

24  advertisement requirement. Each school board shall designate a

25  school district employee as the district's ABC program liaison

26  and shall provide the name and contact information of the

27  liaison to the department by September 1 of each year.

28         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
