17 and insert: (9) HIGH-STAKES POKER TOURNAMENTS.--
18 (a) A cardroom operator may host a televised
19 high-stakes poker tournament twice each year for 1 week at a
20 pari-mutuel facility that is authorized to operate cardrooms
21 during the hours that the pari-mutuel facility is open to
22 conduct business. Such a tournament may be conducted only
23 once in any 6-month period.
24 (b) A high-stakes poker tournament shall consist of a
25 series of games played at multiple tables. Tournaments shall
26 be played only with tournament chips which shall be provided
27 to all participants in exchange for an entry fee and any
28 subsequent re-buys. All players shall receive an equal number
29 of tournament chips for their entry fee. Tournament chips
30 shall have no cash value and shall represent tournament points
31 only. There shall be no limitation on the number of

1 tournament chips that can be used for a bet except as
2 determined by the cardroom operator. Tournament chips may
3 never be redeemed for cash or any other thing of value. The
4 entry fee for a tournament shall be decided by he cardroom
5 operator. The distribution of prizes and cash awards shall be
6 determined by the cardroom operator before entry fees are
7 accepted. For purposes of tournament play only, gross
8 receipts for the tournament shall mean the total amount
9 received by the cardroom operator for all entry fees, player
10 re-buys and fees for participation in tournaments less the
11 total amount paid to the winners or other as prizes. The
12 total number of players that may enter the tournament shall be
13 decided by the cardroom operator.
