  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the South Florida Evaluation

  3         and Treatment Center; providing for the lease

  4         of the existing center to Miami-Dade County;

  5         providing for Miami-Dade County to sublease the

  6         existing center to GEO Care, Inc., until a new

  7         center is completed in 2008; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  (1)  Upon approval of the Board of Trustees

13  of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, the Division of State

14  Lands of the Department of Environmental Protection shall

15  lease the existing South Florida Evaluation and Treatment

16  Center complex in Miami-Dade County, currently under lease to

17  the Department of Children and Family Services, to Miami-Dade

18  County for the amount of $1 per year for 99 years to be used

19  by the county for its expanded jail diversion program.

20         (2)  The lease of the property shall take place in the

21  2007-2008 fiscal year, and Miami-Dade County shall sublease

22  the facility to GEO Care, Inc., for $1 per year until the new

23  South Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center is completed on

24  or about April 2008.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.

28                          SENATE SUMMARY

29    Provides for the Department of Environmental Protection
      to lease the existing South Florida Evaluation and
30    Treatment Center to Miami-Dade County. Provides for a
      temporary sublease of the property to GEO Care, Inc., by
31    Miami-Dade County.
