  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to building code inspectors;

  3         creating s. 468.634, F.S.; providing that a

  4         certified building code inspector needs no

  5         other licensure or certification to perform as

  6         a building code inspector; amending s. 553.73,

  7         F.S.; prohibiting local governments from

  8         adopting amendments to the Florida Building

  9         Code that conflict with the requirements of s.

10         468.634, F.S.; providing an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13  

14         Section 1.  Section 468.634, Florida Statutes, is

15  created to read:

16         468.634  Certified building code inspector work

17  scope.--A building code inspector certified under this part

18  needs no other licensure or certification to perform work

19  within the scope of his or her certification under this part.

20         Section 2.  Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (4) of

21  section 553.73, Florida Statutes, to read:

22         553.73  Florida Building Code.--

23         (4)

24         (d)  No local government may adopt an amendment to the

25  Florida Building Code which conflicts with s. 468.634.

26         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
