  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to missing child

  3         investigations; amending s. 937.021, F.S.;

  4         requiring a state law enforcement agency having

  5         jurisdiction over the case of a missing child

  6         to keep the case open and under active

  7         investigation for a certain period of time;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Subsection (4) is added to section 937.021,

13  Florida Statutes, to read:

14         937.021  Missing child reports.--

15         (4)  The state law enforcement agency having

16  jurisdiction over the case of a missing child shall keep the

17  case open and under active investigation until the location of

18  the child has been determined or for 100 years, whichever

19  occurs first.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
