11  The Committee on Criminal Justice (King) recommended the
12  following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 5, lines 5-18, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  
18         (3)  IMMUNITY FROM LIABILITY.--
19         (a)  Except for public or private entities and
20  employers subject to the exceptions of subsection (6), a
21  public or private entity or employer has no duty to:
22         1.  Prohibit any customer, employee, or invitee from
23  possessing legal personal private property in a locked motor
24  vehicle in the entity's or employer's parking lot;
25         2.  Search a motor vehicle in the entity's or
26  employee's parking lot or inquire regarding personal private
27  possessions in a locked motor vehicle in the entity's or
28  employer's parking lot;
29         3.  Condition employment upon an agreement regarding
30  the employee's legal personal private property in a locked
31  motor vehicle in the entity's or employer's parking lot; or

Terminate the employment of an employee for 2 exercising his or her right to bear arms or for exercising the 3 right of self-defense as long as a firearm is never exhibited 4 on company property for any reason other than lawful defensive 5 purposes. 6 (b) Except for public or private entities and 7 employers subject to the exceptions of subsection (6), a 8 public or private entity or employer is not liable in a civil 9 action based on actions or inactions taken in compliance with 10 this section.
