12 following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 1, lines 13-30, delete those lines
16
17 and insert:
18 1012.587 Educator certification in English for
19 Speakers of Other Languages.--
20 (1) The Department of Education or a school district
21 may not require an educator having a certification or
22 endorsement in reading or intensive reading to earn more than
23 60 inservice hours for endorsement in English for Speakers of
24 Other Languages after credit is applied for duplicative
25 competencies from certification or endorsement in reading or
26 intensive reading.
27 (2) The Department of Education or a school district,
28 when requiring an educator to obtain certification or
29 endorsement in English for Speakers of Other Languages upon
30 assignment of a limited English proficient student to the
31 educator, may not require the educator to begin meeting the

1 certification or endorsement requirements less than 45 school
2 days or one grading period after the student is assigned,
