1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to hospital county
3 reimbursement; creating s. 154.317, F.S.;
4 authorizing a county hospital to request
5 reimbursement of costs of care incurred for an
6 indigent from the county where that indigent is
7 a resident; requiring the county of residency
8 to reimburse the county or county hospital
9 district for costs of care for such indigents
10 within a certain number of days following the
11 date of the request; providing an effective
12 date.

14 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

16 Section 1. Section 154.317, Florida Statutes, is
17 created to read:
18 154.317 Expedited reimbursement
19 process.--Notwithstanding any other provision of this part,
20 any hospital that is an instrumentality of a county and any
21 county hospital district may immediately request reimbursement
22 of reasonable and necessary costs of care incurred for an
23 indigent from the county where that indigent is a resident.
24 The county of residency shall reimburse the county or county
25 hospital district for the reasonable and necessary costs of
26 care for such an indigent within 60 days after the date of the
27 request.
28 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
29 law.
