2An act relating to complaint review boards for law
3enforcement officers and correctional officers; amending
4s. 112.532, F.S.; extending the right to a complaint
5review board to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs; providing an
6effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  Subsection (2) of section 112.532, Florida
11Statutes, is amended to read:
12     112.532  Law enforcement officers' and correctional
13officers' rights.--All law enforcement officers and correctional
14officers employed by or appointed to a law enforcement agency or
15a correctional agency shall have the following rights and
16privileges:
17     (2)  COMPLAINT REVIEW BOARDS.--A complaint review board
18shall be composed of three members: One member selected by the
19chief administrator of the agency or unit; one member selected
20by the aggrieved officer; and a third member to be selected by
21the other two members. Agencies or units having more than 100
22law enforcement officers or correctional officers shall use
23utilize a five-member board, with two members being selected by
24the administrator, two members being selected by the aggrieved
25officer, and the fifth member being selected by the other four
26members. The board members shall be law enforcement officers or
27correctional officers selected from any state, county, or
28municipal agency within the county. There shall be a board for
29law enforcement officers and a board for correctional officers
30whose members shall be from the same discipline as the aggrieved
31officer. The provisions of this subsection shall not apply to
32sheriffs or deputy sheriffs.
33     Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2007.
