9 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
10 |

11 | Section 1. Paragraph (iii) is added to subsection (4) of |
12 | section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read: |
13 | 320.08056 Specialty license plates.-- |
14 | (4) The following license plate annual use fees shall be |
15 | collected for the appropriate specialty license plates: |
16 | (iii) Veterans Service Organization license plate, $15. |
17 | Section 2. Subsection (61) is added to section 320.08058, |
18 | Florida Statutes, to read: |
19 | 320.08058 Specialty license plates.-- |
20 | (61) VETERANS SERVICE ORGANIZATION LICENSE PLATES.-- |
21 | (a) Notwithstanding s. 320.08053, the department shall |
22 | develop a series of veterans service organization license plates |
23 | as provided in this section. Veterans Service Organization |
24 | license plates must bear the colors and design approved by the |
25 | department. The word "Florida" must appear at the top of the |
26 | plate, and the name of the respective veterans service |
27 | organization must appear at the bottom of the plate. The |
28 | appropriate emblem for the particular veterans service |
29 | organization must appear on the left side of the plate, |
30 | approximately 3 inches in diameter. The Veterans Service |
31 | Organization license plate shall be developed for the following: |
32 | 1. The American Legion. |
33 | 2. The Disabled American Veterans. |
34 | 3. The Veterans of Foreign Wars. |
35 | 4. Any other veterans service organization that is |
36 | congressionally chartered or recognized by the United States |
37 | Department of Veterans Affairs. |
38 | (b) The department shall retain all revenues from the sale |
39 | of such plates until all startup costs for developing and |
40 | issuing the plates have been recovered. Thereafter, 60 percent |
41 | of the annual use fees shall be remitted to the appropriate |
42 | organization to support its veterans and military activities, |
43 | programs, and projects within the state. The remaining 40 |
44 | percent shall be deposited into the State Homes for Veterans |
45 | Trust Fund and used solely to construct, operate, and maintain |
46 | domiciliary and nursing homes for veterans subject to the |
47 | requirements of chapter 216. |
48 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007. |
