  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to real property assessments;

  3         amending s. 193.023, F.S.; requiring a property

  4         appraiser to assess certain rental property at

  5         its fair market value based solely upon the

  6         income derived from the rental of the property;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (7) is added to section 193.023,

12  Florida Statutes, to read:

13         193.023  Duties of the property appraiser in making

14  assessments.--

15         (7)  Notwithstanding s. 193.011, in making his or her

16  assessment of rental property used solely for multifamily

17  housing, the property appraiser shall assess the property at

18  its fair market value based solely upon the income derived

19  from the rental of the property.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2008.
