  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to charity thoroughbred horse

  3         racing days; amending s. 550.0351, F.S.;

  4         authorizing a thoroughbred permitholder to

  5         conduct one additional charity day to provide

  6         for the care of retired thoroughbreds;

  7         requiring proceeds to be used pursuant to an

  8         agreement entered into by certain parties;

  9         providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Subsection (9) is added to section

14  550.0351, Florida Statutes, to read:

15         550.0351  Charity racing days.--

16         (9)  In addition to the charity days authorized by this

17  section, a thoroughbred permitholder is authorized to conduct

18  one additional charity day to provide, at a facility or

19  facilities in this state, for the care of thoroughbreds

20  retired from racing. Notwithstanding subsection (2), the

21  proceeds from such charity day performances shall be used for

22  this designated purpose pursuant to a written agreement on

23  file with the division entered into by the permitholder, the

24  Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' Association, and the

25  association representing a majority of the thoroughbred

26  racehorse owners and trainers at that location.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
